This 570-megapixel image, housed within the Victor M. Blanco 4-meter Telescope, reveals a stunning display of glowing nebulae, dark dust lanes, and newborn stars, reminiscent of Van Gogh's iconic 'Starry Night'.
What makes this image truly remarkable is the presence of the globular cluster NGC 6723, also known as the Chandelier Cluster. Located around 27,000 light-years away, this cluster appears in the top right corner of the frame, adding a touch of cosmic glitter. Despite its proximity to the Corona Australis Molecular Cloud, NGC 6723 is entirely unconnected and much farther away on a cosmic scale.
The image, processed by R. Colombari & M. Zamani, showcases the power of the DECam's 570-megapixel sensor, which can deliver full-resolution photos.
